23rd Annual Canada Dry
Victoria Dragon Boat Festival

August 18 – 19  20, 2017

Welcome to the 23rd annual Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, one of Victoria’s most spectacular summer festivals and the only dragon boat festival in Canada to take place in a working harbour.

Here is all the information you need from the new race management team to bring you up to date with easier registration, better prices and even more team opportunities!

We’ve added some exciting twists and turns to this great weekend of racing in Victoria’s beautiful inner harbour. Prepare yourselves for fun.

Victoria has hosted thousands of paddlers at the Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival for more than 20 years. In 2017, look for a new online registration system, improvements to paddlers’ village, expanded food services, and new ways for paddlers and the public to experience the races on shore. On the water, expect a surprise or two which will be, well…surprises!

Even better, we’ve lowered registration fees, and are offering reduced rates for teams travelling to Vancouver Island for the Victoria Festival and all of the other Fairway Gorge Paddling Club (FGPC)-managed races. We hope this encourages more fun—and more competition across all divisions—by bringing new and returning visitors to next year’s Vancouver Island race season, which includes the following FGPC-managed events:

Want to know more? Here’s the fine print…

Early bird discounts are available for all races, including the Victoria Festival, until 15 April 2017, after which regular fees apply. The on-line registration system is the same for all events, and each is handled through our websites, victoriadragonboat.com and fgpaddle.com. Team managers will find the process a pleasure to manage, with online payments and excellent email and telephone support to help you along the way. In addition, our online waiver system is shared between the Festivals, so once a participant completes an individual online waiver for one Festival, it’s good for all of the others within the calendar year. Our goal is to ensure that paddlers arrive on race day mornings with a minimum of administrative stress and a maximum amount of energy ready for what you do best: paddle.

Here’s more!

Teams traveling from off island for whom hotel costs may prevent them from racing now have the option of being billeted by one of FGPC’s host teams. If your team is interested in being hosted and billeted by a local team, contact info@victoriadragonboat.com, and we’ll introduce you to a like-minded team in the Victoria area.

The board and staff of FGPC and the Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival would like to pay tribute to its partners in the community, including the City of Victoria, the Harbour Master and Harbour Patrol, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, RCM-SAR, the Royal Canadian Navy and many others. In addition, local and national sponsors–including our title and presenting sponsors, Canada Dry and the Fairway Market chain–have generously supported the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, and by extension paddling sports in our region. Finally, thousands of individuals have played key roles as volunteers to support great racing experiences for paddlers. On behalf of paddlers everywhere, thank you!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
