Product Details

Over the coming year, and beyond 2020, FGPC’s board of directors and management team have committed to ensuring that the club has the most competitive club-owned fleet of outriggers in the region, both as crew and single boats. In the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020, we have committed to adding new ultralight canoes to our fleet.

We are asking for your help. We are counting on our own club paddlers to step up to support these new additions to our fleet — without raising fees. Over the next six months, FGPC will match, dollar for dollar, every cash donation made toward the ultralight purchase plan. If you donate $1,000 toward a new ultralight, the club will instantly chip in a corresponding $1,000. In the world of outrigger paddling, this is a rare event indeed.

Here is the plan:

Over the next six months, FGPC is placing orders for two ultralight canoes, with deliveries this fall and in the early spring. As of the 2020 racing season, we will have three ultralights in our fleet. These boats will be deployed in the following manner:

  1. FGPC Ulight 1 (Vortex): FGPC Comp Crew A and B (as determined by comp coaches)
  2. FGPC Ulight 2 (Malolo): FGPC Comp Crew A and B (as determined by comp coaches)
  3. FGPC Ulight 3 (Vortex or Malolo): FGPC IM Crew (as determined by IM coaches)
For ongoing training purposes at regular practices, IM coaches will have access to one ultralight, and comp coaches will have access to two. This will be reviewed by senior staff over time, as programs demonstrate the ability to handle these boats with care. FGPC docks are being reconfigured over the coming weeks to accommodate the arrival of these boats, and a damage policy is will be implemented that will call upon crews and programs to share the costs of substantive damage (beyond regular wear-and-tear) incurred through negligence or error as determined by coaches and senior staff. Finally, FGPC will be organizing “pool” huli drills in mid October for ultralights so that all comp and IM paddlers can practice and demonstrate exit and entry ability into both Vortex and Malolo hulls.

At the individual paddler level, here are the donation levels that club members and friends are being asked to consider:

  1. $10,000: Platinum – this donation level comes with the following benefits:
