2014 Race Results for the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival’s 20th Year Anniversary
2014 Race Results for the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival’s 20th Year Anniversary”
This was truly a monumental year for the Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival. Races were ahead of time, and an unbelievable number of teams (29!) were breaking the sub-2:00 minute mark racingtime across Victoria’s majestic Inner-Harbour.
In 2013, teams had set some of our fastest records. This year, we had six teams beat last year’s record time, and the 2013 record-setters raised the bar even higher: OC20 Banana Splits blazed across the line in the Open Challenge at 1:44:98, and OC20 Team Cream Powered by Jackson’s Ice Cream came across at lightning speed of 1:49:49 in the Mixed Platinum Championship. What is in that Jackson’s Ice Cream?
The financial support for BC Cancer through our Lights of Courage, Paddlers’ Pledges, Carnation Toss Ceremony, and some bribery from the judges in the Air Band Contest are anticipated to be nothing less than incredible, but it was the truly overwhelming emotional support for the BC Cancer Foundation from our sponsors, paddlers, volunteers, and spectators, that made us realize why we must continue to bring our communities together through dragon boating for the next 20 years and beyond.
